Essex is a great county with a vast amount of local produce of excellent quality.  A family run business for 4 generations, this local farm in Colchester boasts 137 acres of arable land for perfecting their local home-grown produce.  It's no wonder that Carpenters were the 2010 Colchester District Business Award winners. 


Locally grown produce is great at the best of times, but it's even better to be able to enjoy the fun of picking your own.  With their season for pick your own stawberries and raspberries, you can have the best of both worlds.  Not only do Carpenters Farm grow their own strawberries and raspberries!  They also grow asparagus, potatoes and......Christmas trees!  Yes, Christmas Trees.  So how do you fancy a locally grown Essex tree for that festive spirit.  Why not pop along to the farm shop and see what else they have to offer!

With the spring slowing fading into summer, I often think about the wide range food produce to enjoy in the garden on a warm evening.  A fine selection of lettuce is grown on a local farm to where I reside in Essex.  Anglia Salads Ltd was formed combining 3 generations and 80 years growing experience from 3 well established local farms.

Now I'm one of those people who have a weakness when it comes to bread.  Alongside that, I have a weakenss to say no when it comes to bread and jam.  Toasted or not, it doesn't really matter.  The Wilkin family have farmed on 1000 acres of land in around around the village of Tiptree in Essex for nearly 300 years.  Specialising in growing fruit for conserves since 1885, they really are the finest around.

Offering a wide range of produce from honey, marmalades, jellies, lemon curd through to chutney, relish mustard, ketchup, bbq and brown sauces, there is something to add life to any meal.  The popularity of Tiptree's products is further afield than Tiptree and even Essex and the plus side is that they are sold in most leading supermarkets and overseas.  You won't know what you've been missing until you've tried Tipree's!

With a 12 acre vineyard, Felstar is a local brewery in Essex supplying their produce to local free houses and beer festivals since 2001.  With their premises situated on the oldest commercial vineyard in East Anglia, their ales are a tribute to this old tradition.


Felstar have a fantastic range of ales some of which are known from 'Peckin'Order', 'Good Knight' and not to mention the award winning ale called 'Shalford'.  Why not pay Felstar a visit and find out why their produce is so special for yourself!
